Announcement

For a number of years the Bandwidth Management Advisory Service (BMAS) has provided free advice and guidance to JANET user organisations, helping them to maximise the efficiency of their bandwidth resources including both the JANET connection and inter-site links. Over the last year or two, the need for and the usage of this service has been decreasing. As a result of this, the service will be withdrawn from 1st August 2010.

After this date enquiries relating to bandwidth management should continue to be send to the JANET Service Desk service@ja.net, and we will try our best to answer your queries.

For information purposes we will continue to display existing guidance and advice documents, along with reports on trials and evaluations of relevant products, but no new material will be added.

For further details about the service see About BMAS.

To make an enquiry, in the first instance you should contact JANET Service Desk or e-mail JANET Service Desk and request for JANET BMAS. Or e-mail the service manager directly.

The current content of the BMAS web pages is based on the information and guidance notes developed by the original JANET BMAS team when the service was operated by the University of Manchester and Loughborough University under contract to JANET(UK).
